Tensions are high when ex-friends Leo and Frankie are accidentally reunited at a dog-sitting. As the pair descend into intoxication, the dog takes matters into its own paws…

Dogsitting is an hilarious and disturbing story of friendship, masculinity and man’s best friend. A unique cocktail of magic-realistic clowning and classic theatrical two-hander, Dogsitting brings together Conflicted Theatre (“bold, fascinating, whip-smart” - Everything Theatre) and PillowTalk Theatre (“fantastic, interactive, and hilarious” - Broadway Baby) for the first time. As Leo (Pedro Leandro) and Frankie (Jonathan Oldfield) look after their mutual friend’s dog (Lorna Rose Treen), their complex past becomes intertwined with a dog’s immediate needs and, when the dog begins to take over, a simple task becomes a nightmare job. Have they had too much wine, or did the dog really just speak…?

The Team

Written and performed by Pedro Leandro, Jonathan Oldfield, Lorna Rose Treen. Directed by Evan Lordan.

Conflicted Theatre have been devising & writing new work for locations like government offices, elevators, disused warehouses, private dining clubs & even theatres since 2010. The scale of our performances expands and contracts in order to offer audiences experiences ranging from the intensely intimate, to the construction of entire cathartic communities. Where possible we enjoy immersing the audience within the world of the play with the performers so that they become entangled within the shows themselves, rather than observing from a safe distance. Most recently we staged Pedro Leandro’s new comedic short play ‘We Were Having a Perfectly Nice Time’ at the Omnibus Theatre. The sell out run was followed up with 3 nominations at The Offies/Off West End Awards 2021 - Most Promising New Playwright, Best Ensemble & Director.

PillowTalk makes work for stage, page and communities that break rules, makes a mess and stands out. They have had sell-out runs at Edinburgh Fringe with clown duo Jam Sandwich and late-night cult cabaret The Wonder Jam. They run the smash hit festival Whitechapel Arts Showcase presenting the best in London's comedy and cabaret scene. Recent collaborations include with Corn Exchange Newbury (Dream Out Project) and The Point Eastleigh (Mystery Solvers). They also run improvisation and theatre workshops across the UK, including previously for the BBC. PillowTalk Theatre was founded by Jonathan Oldfield (winner of the Patricia Routledge Award 2019, Carleton Hobbs Award Finalist in 2019, winner of The Newton Blick Award for Versatility 2019) and Lorna Rose Treen (graduate of the SOHO Theatre Labs, the BBC Production Trainee Scheme 2018, winner of the BBC Grace Wyndham Trust Award).
